Same has a very high youth unemployment rate, and until recently there have been no training opportunities for young people wanting to learn carpentry and construction skills in Same, apart from working alongside local carpenters.

A while ago, veterans of the long independence struggle in Timor-Leste established a Technical Vocational Secondary College in Same, teaching carpentry and construction, hospitality and information technology. The principal requested Friends of Same to assist them with tools and associated items (e.g. safety shields, work gloves, technical drawing tables, and technical manuals)
