Donations
How to donate to Friends of Same Projects
The Friends of Same works in collaboration with the Same administration and community leaders to identify needs and priorities with a focus on community development and capacity building. Projects include vocational education and training, support for blind and vision-impaired people, small scale economic initiatives, youth leadership initiatives, promotion and support of Timorese textiles, and material aid including medical and other equipment for Same hospital. A school in a remote village is also being rebuilt with funding from Friends of Same.
Friends of Same and Australian Volunteers International
The Friends of Same has a Memorandum of Understanding with Australian Volunteers International. Funds donated to the Friends of Same through AVI will be used for development purposes. Funds can be transferred by AVI off shore to Timor-Leste, for project specific purposes, and also used to pay on invoice here in Australia for items purchased for projects in Timor-Leste.
Donations made through Australian Volunteers International for agreed purposes are tax deductible. Cheques can be made out to AVI Donations Account—Friends of Same and mailed to the Treasurer Friends of Same, 32 Henry Street Hawthorn 3122. AVI will process all donations and a receipt will be provided.
If, due to unforeseen circumstances, funds collected are unable to be used for the purposes stated, AVI will distribute these funds to similar development projects as they deem fit.
If you have any questions regarding your donation or would like further information on the work of Australian Volunteers International, please Fiona Elliott, donor administrator, 03 9279 1716 or email donor@australianvolunteers.com.
